Mexico had 4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 4,104 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 3,390 were men suicides and 698 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.7 per 100,000 men and for women 1.3 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Mexico. However, in Mexico in 2003 there were there were 10,087 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.5 homicides per suicide.
