Lithuania reported 32.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.12 suicides per 100,000 people.
Lithuania has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,049 recorded suicide cases in 2006, 853 were men suicides and 196 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 56.2 per 100,000 men and for women 11.2 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Lithuania suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 288 homicides in Lithuania, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.6 suicides.
