There are 67 suicides per day in Japan

In 2014 occurred 24,417 suicides in Japan. This year, 1,646 fewer people committed suicide than in 2013. In 2014, on average 67 Japanese committed suicide every day.

Japan had 19.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.71 suicides per 100,000 people.

Japan has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 24,417 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 16,875 were men suicides and 7,542 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 27.3 per 100,000 men and for women 11.5 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Japan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 395 homicides in Japan, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 61.8 suicides.
