Japan has a very high suicide rate

In 1964 occurred 14,707 suicides in Japan. This year, 783 fewer people committed suicide than in 1963. In 1964, on average 40 Japanese committed suicide every day.

Japan had 15 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 11.15 suicides per 100,000 people.

Japan, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 14,707 recorded suicide cases in 1964, 8,336 were men suicides and 6,371 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.3 per 100,000 men and for women 12.8 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
