Japan has a very high suicide rate

In 1962 around 16,724 suicides occurred in Japan, 1,722 less than in 1961. In 1962, on average 46 Japanese committed suicide every day.

Japan reported 17.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 11.28 suicides per 100,000 people.

Japan, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 16,724 recorded suicide cases in 1962, 9,541 were men suicides and 7,183 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 20.2 per 100,000 men and for women 14.7 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
