In Italy there were 6.12 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.37 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 3,725 recorded suicide cases in 2019, 2,901 were men suicides and 824 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.78 per 100,000 men and for women 2.65 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Italy suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 317 homicides in Italy, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11.8 suicides.
