Suicides fell in Ireland

By 2017, suicides in Ireland increased by 54 people to at 383 suicides In Ireland, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Ireland there were 8.05 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.42 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 383 recorded suicide cases in 2017, 310 were men suicides and 73 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.11 per 100,000 men and for women 3.09 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ireland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 39 homicides in Ireland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 9.8 suicides.
