Of the 207,728 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 116,775 were men suicides and 90,953 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.29 per 100,000 men and for women 14.4 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In India suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 47,356 homicides in India, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.4 suicides.
