In 1968 occurred 1,015 suicides in Finland. This year, 82 more people committed suicide than in 1967. On average, there are 3 suicides per day.

Finland had 21.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 11.66 suicides per 100,000 people.

Finland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,015 recorded suicide cases in 1968, 784 were men suicides and 231 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 35.1 per 100,000 men and for women 9.7 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
