In 2007 around 1,402 suicides occurred in Cuba, 46 less than in 2006. In 2007, on average 4 Cubans committed suicide every day.

Cuba reported 12.44 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,402 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 1,118 were men suicides and 284 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.85 per 100,000 men and for women 5.04 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cuba suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 568 homicides in Cuba, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.5 suicides.
