Of the 2,709 recorded suicide cases in 2017, 2,203 were men suicides and 506 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.1 per 100,000 men and for women 2 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Colombia. However, in Colombia in 2017 there were there were 12,298 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 4.5 homicides per suicide.
