In 2014 occurred 2,136 suicides in Colombia. This year, 62 more people committed suicide than in 2013. In 2014, on average 6 Colombians committed suicide every day.

Colombia had 4.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,136 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 1,764 were men suicides and 372 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.5 per 100,000 men and for women 1.5 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Colombia. However, in Colombia in 2014 there were there were 13,343 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 6.2 homicides per suicide.
