In 2015 around 682 suicides occurred in Bulgaria, 49 less than in 2014. In Bulgaria, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.
Bulgaria reported 9.56 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.51 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 682 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 523 were men suicides and 159 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.02 per 100,000 men and for women 4.39 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bulgaria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 126 homicides in Bulgaria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.4 suicides.
