Belarus has a very high suicide rate

In 2013 around 2,221 suicides occurred in Belarus, 48 more than in 2012. In 2013, on average 6 Belarusians committed suicide every day.

Belarus reported 23.46 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Belarus has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 2,221 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 1,835 were men suicides and 386 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 41.69 per 100,000 men and for women 7.62 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Belarus suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 333 homicides in Belarus, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6.7 suicides.
