In 1975 around 1,813 suicides occurred in Austria, 30 more than in 1974. In 1975, on average 5 Austrians committed suicide every day.

Austria reported 23.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 12.15 suicides per 100,000 people.

Austria has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,813 recorded suicide cases in 1975, 1,259 were men suicides and 554 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 35.2 per 100,000 men and for women 13.9 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
