The national debt increased in Nepal

In 2019 Nepal public debt was 10,117 million euros11,327 million dollars, has increased 1,6871,367 million since 2018.

This amount means that the debt in 2019 reached 33.13% of Nepal GDP, a 3.05 percentage point rise from 2018, when it was 30.08% of GDP.

If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Nepal debt. It has risen since 2009 in global debt terms, when it was 4,153 million euros 5,786 million dollars although it has fallen as a percentage of GDP, when it amounted to 39.47%.

According to the last data point published, Nepal per capita debt in 2019 was 351 euros393 dollars per inhabitant. In 2018 it was 300 euros 355 dollars, afterwards rising by 51 euros38 dollars, and if we again check 2009 we can see that then the debt per person was 154 euros215 dollars .

The position of Nepal, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2019 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 42 in the list of debt to GDP and 22 in debt per capita, out of the 191 we publish.
