In 2017 Madagascar public debt was 4,090 million euros 4,621 million dollars, has increased 319447 million since 2016.
This amount means that the debt in 2017 reached 40.28% of Madagascar GDP, a 1.62 percentage point fall from 2016, when it was 41.9% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Madagascar debt. It has risen since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 1,755 million euros 2,405 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 32.75%.
According to the last data point published, Madagascar per capita debt in 2017 was 160 euros181 dollars per inhabitant. In 2016 it was 151 euros 168 dollars, afterwards rising by 9 euros13 dollars, and if we again check 2007 we can see that then the debt per person was 91 euros124 dollars .
The position of Madagascar, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2017 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 67 in the list of debt to GDP and 7 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
