Public debt in Belize goes down

In 2018 Belize public debt was 1,530 million euros1,807 million dollars, has decreased 3737 million since 2017.

This amount means that the debt in 2018 reached 79.52% of Belize GDP, a 1.31 percentage point rise from 2017, when it was 78.21% of GDP.

If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Belize debt. It has risen since 2008 in global debt terms, when it was 764 million euros 1,124 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 66.09%.

According to the last data point published, Belize per capita debt in 2018 was 3,863 euros4,564 dollars per inhabitant. In 2017 it was 4,039 euros 4,561 dollars, afterwards dropping by 176 euros 3dollars, and if we again check 2008 we can see that then the debt per person was 2,490 euros3,661 dollars .

The position of Belize, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2018 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 158 in the list of debt to GDP and 122 in debt per capita, out of the 191 we publish.
