Fertility Rate

In general, the fertility rate is a demographic indicator defined as the average number of children per woman.

More specifically, the general fertility rate is defined as the rate that reflects the number of births that occur in a year per 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 49, which is considered the female childbearing age.

The formula for calculating the fertility rate is:

FR= (B/W) X 1,000

Where:

B: Births

W: Women of childbearing age.
