Vietnam - Intentional self-harm

In 2004 occurred 5,543 suicides in Viet Nam. This year, 31 more people committed suicide than in 2003. In 2004, on average 15 Vietnamese committed suicide every day.

Viet Nam had 6.67 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.53 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 5,543 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 4,150 were men suicides and 1,392 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.28 per 100,000 men and for women 3.32 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Viet Nam suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,063 homicides in Viet Nam, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.2 suicides.
