There are 15 suicides per day in Viet Nam

In 2002 around 5,558 suicides occurred in Viet Nam, 63 more than in 2001. In 2002, on average 15 Vietnamese committed suicide every day.

Viet Nam reported 6.82 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 5,558 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 4,138 were men suicides and 1,420 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.47 per 100,000 men and for women 3.45 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Viet Nam suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,067 homicides in Viet Nam, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.2 suicides.
