In 2002 around 1,912 suicides occurred in Uzbekistan, 111 less than in 2001. In 2002, on average 5 Uzbeks committed suicide every day.
Uzbekistan reported 7.61 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 1,912 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 1,443 were men suicides and 469 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.43 per 100,000 men and for women 3.71 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Uzbekistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,058 homicides in Uzbekistan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.8 suicides.
