In Thailand there were 11.96 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 7,664 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 5,029 were men suicides and 2,636 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.9 per 100,000 men and for women 8.08 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Thailand suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 4,538 homicides in Thailand, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.7 suicides.
