Suicides grow in Slovakia

By 2003, suicides in Slovakia increased by 36 people to at 753 suicides On average, there are 2 suicides per day.

In Slovakia there were 14 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.69 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 753 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 648 were men suicides and 105 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 24.8 per 100,000 men and for women 3.8 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Slovakia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 137 homicides in Slovakia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.5 suicides.
