Of the 786 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 560 were men suicides and 227 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 20.33 per 100,000 men and for women 8.15 per 100,000 female.

By comparison, there were 112 homicides in Sierra Leone, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 7 suicides.
