Russia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 56,934 recorded suicide cases in 2000, 47,806 were men suicides and 9,128 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 69.8 per 100,000 men and for women 11.7 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Russia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 41,090 homicides in Russia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.4 suicides.
