Romania had 9.06 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.37 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 1,744 recorded suicide cases in 2019, 1,503 were men suicides and 241 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.93 per 100,000 men and for women 2.48 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Romania suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 244 homicides in Romania, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 7.1 suicides.
