In 2019 around 4,597 suicides occurred in Poland, 135 more than in 2018. In 2019, on average 13 Poles committed suicide every day.
Poland reported 12.16 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.37 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 4,597 recorded suicide cases in 2019, 3,985 were men suicides and 612 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 21.8 per 100,000 men and for women 3.12 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Poland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 253 homicides in Poland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 18.2 suicides.
