Suicides grow in Panama

By 2003, suicides in Panama increased by 47 people to at 268 suicides

In Panama there were 8.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 268 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 242 were men suicides and 26 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.12 per 100,000 men and for women 1.65 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Panama. However, in Panama in 2003 there were there were 337 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.3 homicides per suicide.
