Suicides decreased in Oman

In 2003 around 107 suicides occurred in Oman, 2 less than in 2002.

Oman reported 4.23 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 107 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 92 were men suicides and 15 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.69 per 100,000 men and for women 1.38 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Oman suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 35 homicides in Oman, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.1 suicides.
