New Zealander had 12.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.53 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 493 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 382 were men suicides and 111 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.1 per 100,000 men and for women 5.3 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In New Zealander suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 45 homicides in New Zealander, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11 suicides.
