Suicides grow in Mauritius

By 2014, suicides in Mauritius increased by 23 people to at 127 suicides

In Mauritius there were 10.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.71 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 127 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 100 were men suicides and 27 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.08 per 100,000 men and for women 4.23 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Mauritius suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 19 homicides in Mauritius, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6.7 suicides.
