Of the 27 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 15 were men suicides and 11 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.62 per 100,000 men and for women 7.87 per 100,000 female.

By comparison, there were 4 homicides in Maldives, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6.8 suicides.
