Number of suicides increases in Luxembourg

In 2002 around 85 suicides occurred in Luxembourg, 12 more than in 2001.

Luxembourg reported 19.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Luxembourg is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 85 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 63 were men suicides and 22 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 28.6 per 100,000 men and for women 9.7 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Luxembourg suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 6 homicides in Luxembourg, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 14.2 suicides.
