Kazakhstan has a very high suicide rate

In 2002 around 5,613 suicides occurred in Kazakhstan, 138 less than in 2001. In 2002, on average 15 Kazakhs committed suicide every day.

Kazakhstan reported 37.75 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Kazakhstan has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 5,613 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 4,684 were men suicides and 929 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 66.28 per 100,000 men and for women 11.92 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Kazakhstan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,967 homicides in Kazakhstan, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.9 suicides.
