In Hungary there were 24.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.
Hungary has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 2,450 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 1,879 were men suicides and 571 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 39.4 per 100,000 men and for women 10.8 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Hungary suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 154 homicides in Hungary, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 15.9 suicides.
