Suicides fell in Greece

By 2020, suicides in Greece increased by 66 people to at 464 suicides In Greece, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Greece there were 4.26 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.27 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 464 recorded suicide cases in 2020, 376 were men suicides and 88 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.07 per 100,000 men and for women 1.6 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Greece suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 78 homicides in Greece, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.9 suicides.
