In 2017 around 9,296 suicides occurred in Germany, 611 less than in 2016. In 2017, on average 25 Germans committed suicide every day.
Germany reported 11.27 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.42 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 9,296 recorded suicide cases in 2017, 7,039 were men suicides and 2,257 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.28 per 100,000 men and for women 5.42 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Germany suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 813 homicides in Germany, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11.4 suicides.
