Suicides increase in Georgia

In 2014 occurred 265 suicides in Georgia. This year, 3 more people committed suicide than in 2013.

Georgia had 7.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 265 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 217 were men suicides and 48 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.2 per 100,000 men and for women 2.44 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Georgia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 108 homicides in Georgia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.5 suicides.
