Suicides decreased in Georgia

In 2003 around 231 suicides occurred in Georgia, 75 less than in 2002.

Georgia reported 5.34 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 231 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 177 were men suicides and 54 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.67 per 100,000 men and for women 2.36 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Georgia. However, in Georgia in 2003 there were there were 302 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.3 homicides per suicide.
