Suicides increase in Georgia

In 2002 occurred 306 suicides in Georgia. This year, 44 more people committed suicide than in 2001.

Georgia had 7.04 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 306 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 244 were men suicides and 63 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.83 per 100,000 men and for women 2.73 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Georgia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 292 homicides in Georgia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1 suicides.
