In 2002 around 95 suicides occurred in The Gambia, as occurred in 2001.
The Gambia reported 6.76 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 95 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 65 were men suicides and 30 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.67 per 100,000 men and for women 3.88 per 100,000 female.
