Suicides grow in Estonia

By 2017, suicides in Estonia increased by 40 people to at 227 suicides

In Estonia there were 17.38 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.42 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 227 recorded suicide cases in 2017, 173 were men suicides and 54 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 28.1 per 100,000 men and for women 7.88 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 29 homicides in Estonia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 7.8 suicides.
