In 2004 around 323 suicides occurred in Estonia, 19 less than in 2003.
Estonia reported 23.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.53 suicides per 100,000 people.
Estonia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 323 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 264 were men suicides and 59 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 42 per 100,000 men and for women 8.1 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 91 homicides in Estonia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.5 suicides.
