By 2002, suicides in Estonia increased by 30 people to at 371 suicides In Estonia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Estonia there were 27.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 371 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 299 were men suicides and 72 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 47.1 per 100,000 men and for women 9.8 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 142 homicides in Estonia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.6 suicides.
