Estonia has a very high suicide rate

In 2000 around 377 suicides occurred in Estonia, 92 less than in 1999. In Estonia, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Estonia reported 27.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.98 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 377 recorded suicide cases in 2000, 289 were men suicides and 88 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 45.2 per 100,000 men and for women 11.9 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 143 homicides in Estonia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.6 suicides.
