Suicides increase in Denmark

In 2017 occurred 589 suicides in Denmark. This year, 9 more people committed suicide than in 2016. In Denmark, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Denmark had 10.23 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.42 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 589 recorded suicide cases in 2017, 424 were men suicides and 165 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.82 per 100,000 men and for women 5.7 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Denmark suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 71 homicides in Denmark, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.3 suicides.
