Number of suicides falls in Denmark

In 2002 occurred 688 suicides in Denmark. This year, 39 fewer people committed suicide than in 2001. In Denmark, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Denmark had 12.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 688 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 503 were men suicides and 185 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 18.9 per 100,000 men and for women 6.8 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Denmark suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 48 homicides in Denmark, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 14.3 suicides.
