Number of suicides falls in Cyprus

In 2014 occurred 43 suicides in Cyprus. This year, 2 fewer people committed suicide than in 2013.

Cyprus had 4.57 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 43 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 30 were men suicides and 13 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.75 per 100,000 men and for women 2.51 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cyprus suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 11 homicides in Cyprus, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.9 suicides.
