In 2004 around 1,551 suicides occurred in Cuba, 29 more than in 2003. In 2004, on average 4 Cubans committed suicide every day.

Cuba reported 13.82 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.53 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,551 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 1,176 were men suicides and 375 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 20.93 per 100,000 men and for women 6.7 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cuba suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 660 homicides in Cuba, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.4 suicides.
